Line up for November Festival

Gwion Thomas

Baritone

Gwion was born in Gorseinion, South Wales. He gave up a career in banking to study singing at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester where he graduated with Distinction, winning many prizes. He began his singing career in 1985 and has since performed in several operatic roles and on concert platforms all round the world. As well as performing, Gwion teaches singing both privately and for many years at the Birmingham Conservatoire. He is one of the main adjudicators at the Welsh National Eisteddfod and a frequent guest soloist for Male Voice Choirs.

Sioned Terry

Soprano

Sioned teaches music at Howell's Preparatory School in Denbigh, N.Wales as well as teaching voice and piano on a peripatetic basis for Denbighshire schools. Sioned has competed in the Blue Ribbon Category at the National Eisteddfod of Wales and is also a successful composer.

Harvey Davies

Accompanist

Harvey began playing the piano before he was three. He was a chorister at New College, Oxford, then went with a top Music Scholarship to Marlborough College before completing his studies at the Royal Northern College of Music from 1983 to 1987. In 1987 he won the title of Young Musician of the Year at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod. Harvey is now well established as a fine chamber musician and accompanist.


Release of new CD

The choir's new CD 'Sain Trelawnyd' was recorded and produced at Livewire Studios, Denbigh, N.Wales and is available to buy online.


Choir Snatches Stirring Victory

Geraint Roberts with TrophyNot for the first time, the choir distinguished themselves by winning at the National Eisteddfod of Wales. On Saturday the 11th August 2007 in Mold, they won the chief male voice choirs competition in a stirring climax to the daytime session.

Following the adjudication, conductor Geraint Roberts went back on stage to receive the Wesh Guards cup and cash prize with two other North Wales choirs, Rhosllanerchrugog second and Penrhyn from Bethesda third.
