Opera superstar booked for 75th

The choir are fortunate to have secured the services of two very accomplished artistes for their Anniversary concert in July. Rhys Meirion and accompanist Harvey Davies are both well known to the choir and are sure to delight the audience. Rhys started his singing career whilst a head teacher at a school near the town of Ruthin , North Wales and is now a world renowned tenor having appeared in venues such as the Sydney Opera House.

He began a very busy 2008 releasing a CD of Celtic songs and this Spring will be touring with the WNO Company singing alongside his friend, the world-famous bass/ baritone Bryn Terfel in a production of Falstaff. His hectic calendar continues with a three-week tour to Patagonia where he will appear in several concerts in support of a 100 year old music festival which takes place in May.

When the choir celebrated their diamond jubilee at the Pavilion Theatre fifteen years ago, rising star Bryn Terfel performed with them and as friends it seems appropriate that they both have the distinction of having shared the stage with Trelawnyd Male Voice Choir.

The choir are also delighted that joining them on stage is the young soprano from Swansea - Ros Evans.

Following the adjudication, conductor Geraint Roberts went back on stage to receive the Wesh Guards cup and cash prize with two other North Wales choirs, Rhosllanerchrugog second and Penrhyn from Bethesda third.
